Caramel Cream Cheese Bread

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Caramel Sauce:
    • In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar, heavy cream, and a pinch of salt. Stir continuously until the mixture comes to a boil.
    • Reduce the heat and simmer for about 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Set aside to cool while you prepare the bread.
  2. Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling:
    • In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
  3. Prepare the Bread Batter:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
    • In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
  4. Assemble the Caramel Cream Cheese Bread:
    • Pour half of the bread batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly. Dollop the cream cheese mixture over the batter and gently spread it without mixing it into the batter.
    • Drizzle a few tablespoons of the caramel sauce over the cream cheese layer.
    • Top with the remaining bread batter, spreading it carefully to cover the filling. Drizzle more caramel sauce on top, swirling it gently into the batter with a knife for a marbled effect.
  5. Bake the Bread:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs (avoid the cream cheese filling when testing).
    • If the bread starts to brown too quickly on top, cover it loosely with foil for the last 15 minutes of baking.
  6. Cool and Serve:
    • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
    • Drizzle any remaining caramel sauce over the cooled bread before slicing and serving.

Tips for Making the Perfect Caramel Cream Cheese Bread:

  • Cream Cheese Filling: For a smoother filling, ensure your cream cheese is at room temperature before mixing.
  • Caramel Swirl: You can adjust the caramel swirl to your liking. For more caramel flavor, increase the drizzle on each layer.
  • Storage: Store the bread in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Bring to room temperature before serving, or enjoy slightly warm.
